Message from the Alumni Association President

TUVAA president, Emily Dae Andersen, hugging a shepherd dog

Hello Fellow Alumni,

I hope this message finds you all well and happily embarking on a new year. I write to you all excited to have begun my role as the next TUVAA president, following in the brilliant footsteps of Dr. Katie Holmes, V13.

Katie and myself both have similar passions, and I am honored to continue with our shared goals and missions. Specifically, we both hope to expand on the International Alumni Student Service Program Katie developed. This rewarding program aims to provide alumni avenues to travel with and directly mentor Cummings students abroad at partner veterinary clinics. After a brief pause due to COVID-19 restrictions, international student travel is now permitted again so we hope to resume trips again this spring.

With regards to contributing to our proud alumni community, please peruse the alumni website frequently for upcoming events, volunteer opportunities, alumni resources and benefits, and other ways to get involved. Note that our next TUVAA Meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, April 5; I hope to see you all there (registration info coming soon).

I hope you’ll also consider participating in the annual White Coat Sponsorship effort - a simple yet effective way to support and connect with our future veterinary colleagues. Alumni are invited to sponsor a student’s white coat with a gift of $50 or more. Your gift will support financial aid at Cummings School, and you’ll have the opportunity to write a personal note to a third-year student that will be tucked in their white coat pocket at the ceremony on March 18.

I thank you all again for your support in this role. As alumni, we truly make up a remarkable group of individuals and I look forward to hearing from you with ideas on how to further grow and collaborate as proud Tufts alumni.

Emily Dae Andersen, V17
