Veterinary Licensure
A license must be obtained for each state in which you intend to practice veterinary medicine. Each state has its own licensing requirements and processes, and students are encouraged to study the requirements for each to ensure that they will meet the qualifications and can obtain licensure in a timely fashion.
Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine is accredited by the AVMA Council on Education. Being an accredited program, the D.V.M. program meets the educational requirements for professional licensure in all states in the USA. Current and prospective students are reminded that other requirements exist on a state by state basis.
Students must apply for licensure in at least one state when applying for the North American Veterinary Licensing Examination (NAVLE). Information regarding NAVLE eligibility and application due-dates, as well as licensing, is available for each state at the International Council for Veterinary Assessment here.
Information regarding transferring scores to other states and credentialing services can be found at the American Association of State Boards.
