- Laboratory Animal Medicine Service (LAMS)
The Laboratory Animal Medicine Service (LAMS) at Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine at Tufts University plays a critical role in supporting animal-related research and education. Members of the service are charged by the University and regulatory authorities to ensure that animal care procedures and animal experimentation comply with federal, state and local regulations.
The management and operation of the animal care activities of all Tufts University sites are fundamental to the development and implementation of a high-quality animal care and use program. By providing facilities, services, and information to internal and external researchers, the Laboratory Animal Medicine Service allows qualified personnel to engage in a diverse range of research projects, some of which involve livestock. This program is characterized by a high level of client service, strong veterinary expertise, effective technical service delivery, quality animal housing, federal and state regulation compliance, and maintenance of AAALAC accreditation.
