Why did you choose to pursue an MCM degree, and why did you choose Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine?

I chose to pursue conservation medicine because it is an incredibly unique and interesting field using a One Health approach to find solutions to issues present that affect everything and everyone throughout the world. I was initially drawn to Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine when I participated in the AVM program, and after learning of all the other things offered here, I knew this was where I needed to go to continue my education.

What are your interests and/or experience relative to conservation medicine?

My interests in conservation medicine are mainly the protection of biodiversity and finding ways in which both wildlife and humans can share space. In the past, I spent a summer shadowing at an animal hospital in which we dealt with animals from cats and dogs to horses and cows. I am looking forward to gaining more experience in this field during my time in the MCM program.

What are your career goals after completing the program?

Short term, I am hoping I can connect with the summer camp I grew up going to (and still do) to set up some sort of environmental education program as being present in nature is a central part of what we do there. Long term, I want to further my education even more by attending vet school and working with threatened/endangered wildlife at zoos or sanctuaries.
