Why did you choose to pursue this degree, and why did you choose Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine to pursue this degree?

One Health has always interested me, so the MCM program immediately caught my eye as I sought ways to broaden my professional horizon. I am intrigued by the complex connections between humans, animals, and the environment; and believe this program will provide a strong One Health foundation on which I can build my career.

What are your interests and/or experience relative to your program?

During undergrad, I served as the Director of Outreach for the Animal Science Student Mentorship Program (club) and also worked with a large variety of animals via study abroad programs. I assisted in the setting up of a protocol and procedure for a study on equine enrichment with one of my professors, then later assisted in the data collection. I have also worked as a land surveyors assistant and veterinary assistant at a hospital in CA. Within conservation medicine, I am particularly interested in the anthropogenic effects on animals in the environments that are being encroached upon or deforested. Additionally, I am interested in the effects of climate change on various ecosystems and the consequences these can have from a global perspective.

What are your career goals after completing the program?

I plan to eventually attend veterinary school but will readily admit that I am unsure of which career path I will ultimately settle on.
