M.S. in Conservation Medicine ‘25
Anthropological Sciences, minor Zoology
Ohio State University 2024
Why did you choose to pursue this degree, and why did you choose Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine to pursue this degree?
After learning about One Health while at Ohio State, the MCM Program at Cummings School seemed like the perfect intersection of my anthropology and zoology interests.
What are your interests and/or experience relative to conservation medicine?
My main interests and experiences lie with non-human primates. I was a chimp care intern at Project Chimps, a sanctuary for retired medical research chimpanzees. I co-authored a children’s book about one of the chimps at the sanctuary with Green Kids Club, Inc., where I interned and wrote throughout high school and college. I interned on Capitol Hill for a representative to learn about wildlife and natural resource policy in the U.S. My undergraduate research thesis revolved around Old World monkey dental development, and I collected data at the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History and Natural History Museum of London.
What are your career goals after completing the program?
My lifelong goal has been to work in conservation, and I hope to work for a non-profit conservation organization but am still considering pursuing further education.
