Why did you choose to pursue this degree, and why did you choose Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine to pursue this degree?
I am pursuing this degree to expand my knowledge and experiences in Conservation Medicine.
What are your interests and/or experience relative to conservation medicine?
During the Summer of 2021, I completed barn owl research at Boise State University’s Raptor Research Center. While there, I was exposed to the One Health Concept and different research projects that focused on various issues affecting these raptors. I learned more about this approach during my Conservation and Wildlife in Veterinary Medicine Certification program with Purdue Global. Upon completing this program, it further expanded my understanding of the efforts to address the consequences of human impact, while bridging the gap between these two fields. Since my exposure, my interests have been in learning more about the human/animal dynamic through One Health and how I can contribute to the efforts in conservation medicine while combining veterinary medicine. I am also interested in Raptor Biology and shelter medicine.
What are your career goals after completing the program?
After completing the MCM program, I plan to pursue veterinary school to become a Wildlife Veterinarian.
