Q: Where have you worked since graduation?

A: The World Organization for Animal Health (OIE) in Paris, France

Q: What is your current position and place of employment?

A: Whole Health Veterinary Hospital in New York, NY (Fall 2016)

Q: How does IVM play a role in your current position?

A: IVM plays an important role in general practice. Population health of pets is managed through routine vaccination, education and raising public awareness for zoonotic diseases prevalent in the area, such as leptospirosis. Every client interaction offers an opportunity to increase awareness of public health risks and disease prevention.

Q: What value have you found in the Post Graduate Certificate in IVM?

A: The Post Graduate Certificate opened my mind to the opportunities and possibilities for helping people and animals around the world, outside of general practice. The program gave me the opportunity to travel to Sydney, Australia for disease research in sheep, and to travel to Geneva, Switzerland to contribute to the global human rabies eradication effort.

Q: Could you share a memory of your time as an IVM student?

A: Some of my favorite memories were listening to fourth-year IVM students speak about their experiences through the IVM Forums. I was encouraged and inspired by the students who came to IVM Forums looking for inspiration despite looming exams. My favorite externship was at the World Health Organization in Geneva, Switzerland, where I met other interns from around the world who were equally as passionate about improving global public health as I was.

Q: What is your advice for students who are interested in IVM?

A: Pursue your dreams. Anything is possible if you believe in yourself.
