Daniela Basave, MS-IDGH VG’22
Biography
Hails from New York
BS Biology/Biomedical Sciences
CUNY Lehman College, 2021
Hello everyone, my name is Daniela Basave and I am from Westchester County, NY. Outside of school I enjoy baking and spending time with my dog. I have lived in NY all my life and received my BS degree in Biology with a concentration in biomedical sciences in 2021. While working on my degree I began to further explore my passion for studying infectious diseases working with Malaria, Dengue Virus, Zika Virus and SARS-CoV2. My goals always included pursuing a healthcare career and learning more about the infectious disease field led me to want to specialize in this field. I was drawn to the MS-IDGH program because of the unique courses offered, the smaller class sizes and the overall area of specialty of the program. My long-term goals include continuing on to medical school after the IDGH program to become an infectious disease specialist and work in endemic areas. I want to improve the understanding of infectious diseases to help prevent, treat and work toward providing better healthcare access in areas where these diseases are prevalent. I am excited to learn more about the amazing field of infectious disease and see where it takes me.
