Why did you choose to pursue this degree, and why did you choose Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine to pursue this degree?
I graduated college with a Zoology degree not knowing what direction I wanted to take it in. I found out about this program through a friend who enjoyed their experience, and I decided that this would be a great program to discover whether I want to go into animal law, or if I want to work in a more hands on scientific environment. Either way, I know that I want to give back to animals in any way I can, as they have taught me invaluable lessons. The Cummings School and Tufts in general has been on my radar since high school when I was applying to undergrad. It’s been a dream since I was 16, so when I had the chance to study at one of the foremost animal welfare and veterinary schools in the country, it was an easy decision.

What are your interests and/or experience relative to the MAPP program?
I have worked in veterinary clinics, labs, and the field, with a wide variety of wonderful creatures, from horses, raccoons, and birds, to turtles, fish, and even polychaete worms. My main areas of expertise are equine health, turtle conservation, wildlife rehabilitation, and marine mitigation. I plan to utilize the MAPP program to connect with similarly-minded people and build upon my foundation of academia so that I can advocate for animals through conservation, rehabilitation, rescue, and policy strategy.

What are your career goals after completing the program?
Currently, I am not sure exactly what my career goals are after I finish the MAPP. I am between pursuing animal law or marine animal conservation. However, I chose this program because I believe that by the end, I will know which path to take.
