Client Code of Conduct

Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine’s Henry and Lois Foster Hospital for Small Animals strives to provide the highest quality care for pets and their people in a compassionate and respectful environment. Having a sick or injured pet is stressful and upsetting, and we are committed to helping you and your pet in the most supportive manner possible.

On our part, we pledge to treat you with kindness and to respect your circumstances and values. We will work with you to the best of our abilities to create a care plan that meets the needs of you and your pet.

In turn, we ask that you treat doctors, staff, students, and other clients with respect and kindness.

Behaviors that will not be tolerated include, but are not limited to:

  • Harassment or discrimination based on race, gender, sexual orientation, religion, or other personal characteristics.
  • Disrespectful, demeaning, or disruptive behavior.
  • Threats, intimidation, or verbal or physical abuse.
  • Allowing your pet to intimidate or threaten other people or pets.
  • Failure to comply with requests from hospital doctors and staff.
  • Entering the hospital while under the influence of alcohol or other recreational drugs.
  • Deliberate provision of false or inaccurate personal information or patient medical information.

If you engage in inappropriate behaviors, you may be asked to leave the hospital and campus and may be required to take your pets elsewhere for care.

If you see others engaging in inappropriate behaviors or if you have concerns, please notify any member of the staff.
