Diversity Scholarships

Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine is committed to enhancing diversity, inclusion, and belonging. Diversity is considered in its broadest sense and includes all underrepresented groups in the field of veterinary medicine.

To achieve this goal, Cummings School, through the generosity of donors, awards several scholarships to entering DVM students who have demonstrated that they embody, support, and enhance diversity, inclusion, and belonging. The awards are intended to support students who have demonstrated financial need, such that provision of a scholarship will encourage them to pursue a career in veterinary medicine, enhance their experience at Cummings School, and facilitate their contributions to diversity, inclusion, and belonging on campus.

These scholarships were established in 2020 in recognition of current events that highlighted systemic racial injustices and exacerbated socioeconomic differences. They are intended to help address these inequities in veterinary medicine and education, while still recognizing the broader diversity issues.

The Scholarships will be awarded above and beyond any other financial support that a student attending Cummings School may receive, provided that financial need is demonstrated at the time of application.

Scholarships are available to all applicants, although preference may be given to students from Massachusetts and New England. An invitation to apply for the following scholarships is sent to all applicants who apply for admission to the Cummings School.
