Biography

My name is Miranda McCarty, and I found my love for nature and wildlife in my home state of Louisiana. I moved to Denver, CO after completing a Bachelor of Science in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology at Tulane University. I have spent the last three years as a veterinary assistant in order to gain more experience in animal medicine. During that time, I also volunteered at Nature’s Educators, caring for the animal ambassadors and assisting in their wildlife rehabilitation clinic. My volunteer work exposed me to community outreach and how it can be used to prevent the tragedies seen in wildlife rehabilitation. I applied to this program in hopes that I can use my degree to educate and empower communities to protect the health of the ecosystem, its wildlife, and the public. Some of my favorite ways to enjoy nature include birdwatching and going on hikes with my dog, Lilo.
