Middle school students from Blackstone Valley towns visited campus Saturday, November 5, to participate in the 13th annual

Blackstone Valley STEM Conference. The conference, co-hosted by Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine at Tufts University and Blackstone Valley Education Foundation, involves students in various STEM activities designed to inspire and cultivate an interest in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics fields and careers.

“Cummings School introduces younger students to the exciting world of veterinary medicine by engaging them in STEM topics,” says Flo Tseng, associate dean for Diversity, Inclusion, Equity and Climate. “We believe that it’s important to understand how many career opportunities are available in these fields. Pathway programs like the Blackstone Valley STEM conference help open students’ eyes to a possible career in veterinary medicine, which is especially important for those from under-represented communities.”
