CVDL Information for Pet Owners

CVDL does not accept requests for testing directly from animal owners. All requests must be made by a licensed veterinarian or an official animal agency representative. Submission through a veterinarian increases the quality and usefulness of submission by allowing the veterinarian to provide interpretation of detailed diagnostic information and to provide results in the context of previous medical history and potential risk to other household animals. For this reason, all communications about submissions will occur through the submitting veterinarian.

Animal remains submitted for necropsy will not be returned after the examination. Due to biosaftety hazards, remains will only be released to registered pet cremation services.

If you are interested in submitting your animal for necropsy, you MUST contact your veterinarian to request submission. Your veterinarian will then need to contact the laboratory to set up an account and receive submission instructions. Animals that are brought to the lab without prior approval will NOT be accepted.
