Scholarship Resources

Students are encouraged to explore private scholarship opportunities to help fund their education. These scholarships are often offered by organizations outside of school and play a key role in reducing student loan debt.

Private scholarships may be available through:

  • Community organizations, which often announce opportunities in local or hometown newspapers
  • Professional associations related to specific careers or fields of study
  • Religious organizations and community groups
  • Employers or local businesses that support students in their communities

Using Online Scholarship Databases

Online scholarship search tools and databases can also help you find opportunities.  However, it’s important to use these resources carefully.

Before using any scholarship website:

  • Review the site’s privacy and use policies to understand how your information will be collected and used.
  • Avoid sharing sensitive personal information, such as Social Security numbers or other protected data, when creating a scholarship profile.
  • Be cautious of fees.  Legitimate scholarship searches and applications should not require you to pay a fee.

By exploring multiple sources and staying mindful of online safety, students can expand their chances of finding scholarship support.

These websites can help you find scholarships and understand your financial aid options.

  • FastWeb – A popular scholarship search engine that matches you with scholarships based on your background, interests, and academic goals.
  • College Board – Offers a comprehensive scholarship search tool along with helpful information about college planning and financial aid.
  • CareerOne  - Provides scholarship listings, career guidance, and resources to help students plan their educational and professional paths.
  • FinAid – A valuable resource for information on scholarships, student loans, grants, and many other financial aid topics.

Using these tools can help you discover funding opportunities and make informed decisions about financing your education.

The Financial Aid Office has compiled this list of Outside Scholarship Opportunities to help students identify and apply for additional funding to support their education.
