Trinita Barboza

Biography
Dr. Barboza serves as an assistant professor of zoological companion animal medicine at Tufts Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine. She completed her veterinary training at the Western College of Veterinary Medicine, University of Saskatchewan and obtained her DVM in 2015. She subsequently completed a small animal rotating internship with Blue Pearl Specialty Partners in Virginia Beach, a specialty internship in avian/ exotic medicine at the Ontario Veterinary College, and a wildlife internship with the National Wildlife Center. In 2018 she was accepted into a 3-year residency program in zoological companion animal medicine and a doctoral program at the University of Guelph where she completed her thesis on fatty liver disease in bearded dragons.
Dr. Barboza is passionate about providing high quality care to all exotic species as well as training the future generation of veterinarians in exotic animal medicine. Her professional interests include minimally invasive surgery, fatty liver disease across species, and mental health in the veterinary profession.
In her free time, Dr. Barboza likes to explore nature and travel.
