Dr. Talaat's research interests include surgical and professional student education and learning, as well as clinical surgical diseases, particularly geriatric onset laryngeal paralysis polyneuropathy.

Biography
Dr. Talaat earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from North Carolina State University's College of Veterinary Medicine in 2002. She completed a one-year small animal internship at Purdue University in 2003, followed by a small animal surgical residency at Tufts University's Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine and Angell Animal Medical Center in Boston, MA, in 2006. Following residency she founded the surgery department at Tufts University's satellite veterinary specialty hospital, Tufts VETS, and earned board certification from the American College of Veterinary Surgeons in 2008.
Dr. Talaat has provided small animal specialty surgery services in the Northern Virginia area, Denver, Colorado, and Toronto, Canada. After 17 years in private practice, Dr. Talaat returned to Tufts as faculty at Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine in 2023.
