Biography
Dr. Mendoza-Kuznetsova (or Dr. MK) developed a passion for immunology during her college years. Later, upon graduating and becoming a general practitioner in 1999, this interest expanded to dermatology. Given the absence of board-certified veterinary specialists in her country, she decided to learn English to develop herself further in dermatology. Dr. MK delved into the available scientific literature, participated in many courses and international conferences, and has been exclusively working with dermatological patients since 2003. She assumed the role of chief of the dermatology department at one of the leading veterinary referral clinics in Russia.
From 2008 to 2012, she completed a dermatology residency in four countries: the UK, USA, Germany, and Sweden, subsequently becoming the first and the only board-certified veterinary specialist in her country. Dr. MK has delivered over 200 lectures for veterinarians across post-Soviet and European countries. In 2019, she enthusiastically accepted an invitation to work at Tufts University, seizing the opportunity to advance her career as a clinical researcher, which was limited in her home country.
Dr. MK thoroughly enjoys working with patients and believes that communication with owners is one of the most crucial and rewarding aspects of her job. She holds the conviction that doctors cannot effectively carry out their duties unless the owner comprehends and cooperates with the diagnostic and treatment processes. The objective of her appointments is to provide owners with the most accurate information and to collaboratively work towards the shared purpose - to help the pet.
With over 20 years of experience treating dermatological patients, Dr. MK has developed professional intuition which helps her in selecting the most appropriate diagnostic or treatment plan, even in challenging and atypical clinical scenarios.
Outside her professional life, Dr. MK finds joy in exploring America's natural beauty through activities like hiking, swimming, and travelling with her husband and younger son.
