As a veterinary radiologist, Dr. Amy Sato specializes in diagnosing animals using computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), ultrasound, nuclear medicine and radiography (X-rays). She is board-certified by the American College of Veterinary Radiology.
Dr. Sato grew up in Southern California and Upstate New York. Following her veterinary studies at the University of California at Davis, she undertook an internship at the University of Prince Edward Island, Canada. After completing her radiology residency at the Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine she stayed on as a faculty member. She serves as the course director of the school's "Diagnostic Imaging" course for second-year students and also lectures in the "Clinical Radiology and Principles of Imaging" and "Respiratory Pathophysiology" courses. "I like to take complicated topics and make them appear simple so that students can learn instead of being intimidated," she says. "Watching them experience the "aha! moment" is always gratifying."
Dr. Sato lives with her husband, two daughters, and cat in nearby Shrewsbury, MA.
