Important Professional Information
Veterinary Board Examination (NAVLE)
International Council for Veterinary Assessment (ICVA) provides standardized examinations for use by state and provincial licensing boards as part of their licensure procedure for veterinarians. The North American Veterinary Licensing Exam (NAVLE), administered by the ICVA, is a requirement for licensure to practice veterinary medicine in all licensing jurisdictions in North America, and most veterinary students take the NAVLE during the annual testing windows, with 3 dates available in October 2025, March 2026, and July 2026.
Students must apply for licensure in at least one state when applying for the North American Veterinary Licensing Examination (NAVLE). NAVLE application and testing procedures can vary according to the state or region to which a candidate is applying. Information regarding NAVLE eligibility and application due dates, as well as licensing, is available on the ICVA website.
