AVM High School Program
Overview
The Adventures in Veterinary Medicine High School program is a fun and exciting way for high school students to spend one week learning about the veterinary profession and its varied career opportunities through hands-on activities and classroom experiences.
- Get up close and personal with the animals on Cummings School Farm while learning proper animal handling techniques and performing physical examinations.
- Build your vet skills! Practice bandaging and suturing, learn how to read X-rays, give a clinical exam to a dog, and work as a team to solve a challenging medical case.
- Learn techniques, including intubation and ultrasound, in our state-of-the-art Simulation Lab.
Program Details
Eligibility: Students currently in 9th - 12th grade are eligible for all high school sessions.
Schedule: The program runs daily from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Location: The Adventures in Veterinary Medicine program is located in Grafton, MA on Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine's campus, approximately 45–60 minutes west of Boston (not in Medford/Somerville on the main Tufts University campus). The Grafton campus is located near the MBTA Framingham/Worcester Line Commuter Rail.
Housing: High school sessions are commuter day programs and do not include housing. Travel information and accommodations can be found here.
Tuition: $1,500 for the April session and $1,800 for the Summer session, which includes daily lunch, afternoon snack, and all program activities, lab fees, and supplies.
