Anesthesia

Anesthesia is necessary for animal patients undergoing surgery and other medical procedures such as endoscopy, imaging (CT and MRI) and radiation therapy. The doctors and staff of the Anesthesia Service at Foster Hospital for Small Animals know that each patient is unique.

Behavior

Our board-certified animal behaviorist at Foster Hospital for Small Animals offers consultations and training for all dog and cat behavioral issues. Dr. Borns-Weil also provides advice on common behavioral issues on this site.

Cardiology

Using the most advanced diagnostic tests, including echocardiography, electrocardiography, Holter monitor recordings, radiographs and cardiac catheterization, the Cardiology Service is able to successfully diagnose and manage heart disease in a wide variety of animals. Dermatology & Allergy

Hundreds of skin diseases affect our animal companions, making their diagnosis and management both frustrating and challenging. The Dermatology Service at Foster Hospital for Small Animals is headed by board-certified veterinary dermatologists with extensive training in the diagnosis and treatment of skin, coat, ear and nail problems including allergic skin disease, autoimmune/immune-mediated skin disorders, infectious and parasitic skin diseases, genetic skin and coat diseases, and acute and chronic ear diseases in all species.

Diagnostic Imaging

The diagnostic imaging service at Foster Hospital for Small Animals is one of the largest such specialist groups in the country, with six board-certified radiologists and the most advanced imaging equipment available.

Emergency Medicine & Critical Care

The Emergency Medicine and Critical Care Service at Foster Hospital for Small Animals is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to help you and your pet. We serve central Massachusetts as a primary emergency hospital, and New England and beyond for referral of critically ill or injured pets.

Internal Medicine

The Internal Medicine Service at Foster Hospital for Small Animals is led by faculty who are board-certified in the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine. Supporting them are trained technicians, interns, residents, students and staff within a state-of-the-art facility for providing diagnosis and advanced patient care.

Interventional Radiology is an exciting field that allows for non-invasive treatment of many diseases in small animals that were previously difficult to treat. Through advanced imaging technology, we are now able to view nearly every structure in the body

The Neurology and Neurosurgery Service at Foster Hospital for Small Animals provides care for patients with neurological disorders of the brain, inner ear, spinal cord and vertebrae, as well as diseases affecting muscles, nerves and the peripheral nervous system.

Nutrition

Drs. Freeman and Linder of the Henry and Lois Foster Hospital for Small Animal’s Clinical Nutrition Service help pet owners and their veterinarians incorporate nutrition into their pet’s wellness and treatment plans. The Clinical Nutrition Service has extensive experience in nutritional management of dogs and cats, from healthy animals to those with very complex health concerns.

Oncology

The Harrington Oncology Service at Foster Hospital for Small Animals is a collaborative group made up of medical oncology, radiation oncology, surgical oncology, and the clinical trials service.

Ophthalmology

Foster Hospital for Small Animals' Ophthalmology Service provides routine and emergency care for all types of eye injuries and diseases in small animals, large animals and exotic pets.

Orthopedic Surgery

The orthopedic surgery service at Foster Hospital for Small Animals is overseen by our board-certified faculty, who specialize in treating all types of orthopedic trauma (fractures, luxations) and neurologic trauma (fractures and prolapsed intervertebral discs).

The soft tissue surgery service at Foster Hospital for Small Animals is overseen by our board-certified faculty, who specialize in treating problems of the chest and abdomen and external parts of the body. In addition to surgery, the service also performs diagnostic evaluations of surgical candidates.

Zoological Companion Animal Service

The Zoological Companion Animal Medicine (ZCAM) service provides primary, referral, and emergency and critical care for avian and exotic pets through board-certified specialists in zoological medicine with years of experience treating numerous species, including birds, rabbits, ferrets, guinea pigs, rodents, special small mammals (such as chinchillas or hedgehogs), reptiles, amphibians, fish, and zoo animals.
