Volunteer at Tufts Wildlife Clinic
Ready to Volunteer?
The Wildlife Clinic is currently accepting applications for volunteering. Please fill out the application form by clicking the link found below. Once your application is submitted, someone will be in touch with you if there is an opening.
Tufts Wildlife Clinic accepts volunteers seven days a week. Monday through Friday, volunteers work for a minimum of one, four-hour shift per week, either in the morning (8:30am-12:00 pm) or afternoon (1:00pm-5:00 pm). On weekends, volunteers will work from 8:00-12:00 or from 1:00pm-5:00pm.
The volunteers perform a variety of services. As the backbone of the workforce, the Tufts Wildlife Clinic would not be able to operate effectively without volunteers, especially during the busy spring and summer months. The priority is always the care and feeding of the animals, which includes cage cleaning, husbandry, and assisting with medical treatments as needed. It also includes the general cleanliness and maintenance of the entire clinic. After animal care is fulfilled, laundry, sweeping, mopping and other general maintenance tasks need to be completed. Volunteers may also be asked to keep track of animal room inventory, stock items throughout the clinic, clean and sterilize surgical equipment, and run clinic-related errands for the staff. Some phone coverage may also be required.
In the spring and summer, there is a particular need for drivers to transport animals that are ready for rehabilitation to licensed rehabilitators all over the state.
If you might be able to contribute to Tufts Wildlife Clinic as a volunteer and are able to make a minimum commitment of six months with a four-hour shift once a week, please fill out the volunteer application.
You must be Covid vaccinated and boosted to volunteer. Proof of vaccination will be required. All clinic personnel are required to always wear a mask while working in the clinic.
