Our Mission

We provide families with compassionate and affordable veterinary care. Our clientele must qualify to receive significantly subsidized patient car.

Tufts and Tech Community Veterinary Clinic is an innovative student-run clinic that provides high-quality, low-cost primary care for family pets living in underserved communities in Massachusetts.

Under the leadership of a Tufts University veterinary team, the clinic serves as a collaborative teaching facility for final-year Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (D.V.M.) candidates from Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine at Tufts University and students enrolled in the Veterinary Assisting program at Worcester Technical High School.

Working under the direct guidance of experienced veterinarians and credentialed veterinary technicians, veterinary and high school students gain hands-on clinical experience while delivering compassionate care to feline and canine patients.

Services

Routine wellness care: vaccinations, parasite screening and prevention.
Management of chronic illness: allergies, diabetes, heart disease, etc.
Stable urgent care: ear infections, vomiting, diarrhea, urinary tract infections.
Diagnostic services: blood testing, digital radiology, point of care ultrasound, etc.
Surgery services: spay/neuter (pyometra, dystocia), mass removal, wound repair, amputations, foreign body removal, etc.
Dentistry services: radiographs and extractions.

Appointments

Tufts at Tech uses month-to-month appointment scheduling, booking at least one month ahead. To make an appointment for your pet, please call 508-751-7670. Business hours are Monday - Friday, 8:00 am – 3:00 pm and appointments are available 9:00 am – 1:00 pm. If you are unsure whether you qualify for Tufts at Tech veterinary services, please contact the clinic in advance. We will be happy to discuss your family's eligibility status with you.

What to Bring

Please bring appropriate qualifying documentation (see the Financial Policies section below) as well as a photo ID. For the safety of all our patients, your pet should be on a leash (or in a pet carrier).

What Happens During an Appointment

Appointment times vary based on your pet’s medical needs, but you should plan to spend approximately two hours at the clinic.

When you arrive, a veterinary assisting student will admit your pet. A fourth-year veterinary student will then take your pet’s medical history and perform a thorough physical examination. With oversight from Clinic Director Dr. Greg Wolfus, the veterinary student will develop a treatment plan based on your pet’s needs.

You and the Tufts at Tech animal care team will work together to make decisions about your pet’s care and treatment.

The pet owner of record must attend every appointment and bring a qualifier card and photo ID.

Eligibility

The population Tufts at Tech serves includes clients with limited financial means who reside in Massachusetts. Our goal is to improve the quality of life for underserved pets in our community.

All clients must qualify for veterinary services by providing a photo ID along with one of the following:

WIC (Women, Infants, and Children) card with ID.
SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) card with ID.
WHA (Worcester Housing Authority) resident card with ID.
WTHS (Worcester Technical High School) student card with ID.

Payment is due when services are provided. We only accept cash or credit/debit for payment. Check and Care Credit payments cannot be accepted. We accept cash and credit card payments only. (We do not accept CareCredit)
