PhD in Biomedical Sciences Program

The PhD program in Biomedical Sciences at the Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine is focused on the following research areas: Infectious Diseases, Digestive Diseases, Neuroscience and Reproductive Biology, and Pathology. Program faculty hold full-time appointments at the Cummings School and their research is largely funded by extramural grants.

Students accepted to the program are matched to a faculty member with compatible research interests who will serve as a mentor. The mentor and a Thesis Advisory Committee advise students throughout their time in the program on the choice of courses and dissertational research. Students are encouraged to publish their research and attend scientific meetings. The program fosters students' communication skills and aims to graduate scientists that will successfully compete in the job market.
