Why did you choose to pursue this degree, and why did you choose Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine to pursue this degree?

My name is Theresa Oluseyi Cockfield-Dina, and I am a Nigerian-American first generation student from Cranston, Rhode Island. I graduated from Rhode Island College (RIC)in 2018 with three bachelor’s degrees: Biology, Music, and Performance Theatre cum laude. I currently work at Nitto Denko Avecia as Quality Control Environmental Analyst II, with the Microbiology Group. During my time at RIC. I developed a love for microbiology and infectious diseases that I was determined to pursue post-graduation. I chose the MS-IDGH program at Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine, as I felt that this program would best help me develop a deeper understanding of infectious diseases and possible solutions. Additionally, this program will allow me to gain more hands-on experience with laboratory techniques.

What are your career goals after completing the program?

I hope to work in vaccine development after graduation. In my spare time outside the lab, I am a style influencer and content creator.
