Why did you choose to pursue this degree, and why did you choose Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine to pursue this degree?

Essentially the whole MAPP program and what it concentrates on really drew me in and led me to join the program. I couldn't really find any graduate programs that concentrated on Human-Animal relationships in our communities and after stumbling onto this program, it really just had everything I was looking for.

I want to focus on Human-Animal relationships in animal shelters/rescues and how it affects the community around them. The county shelter I used to work at in Atlanta works with people who may need to surrender their pets for some reason and tries to help them reunite when the owner has better control of whatever situation happened. Some people may consider surrendering pets as people being "bad owners", but sometimes life throws you into a situation where you may need help figuring out everything.

What are your career goals after completing the program?

I would love to open a rescue that primarily concentrates on/houses dogs/cats that usually have a harder time getting adopted. I want to help over-looked shelter pets find homes, but also serve my community with an outreach program that supports owners who may face inequities or lack resources to care for their pets.
