Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine is located just thirty-five miles west of Boston and 8 miles southeast of Worcester, MA, both easily accessible via the Grafton station of the commuter rail. This proximity allows our students rich research and career opportunities as well as countless venues for entertainment and culture.

The Epicenter of Biotechnology

“Massachusetts is home to a biotechnology supercluster that is second to none.” (MassBio) Complementing the more than 550 biotech and pharma companies located instate are 122 leading colleges and universities, the top five National Institutes of Health-funded hospitals in the nation, and the highest educated workforce in the U.S.

The state hosts some of the most prominent companies in the biotech industry, including Genzyme, Biogen Idec, Millennium Pharmaceuticals, Amgen, Novartis, Pfizer, Wyeth, Abbott, AstraZeneca, and Merck.

Boston

Worcester

With a diverse population of more than 175,000 people, including over 30,000 students at more than a dozen area colleges, Worcester is the second largest city in New England, behind Boston. It is one of only six cities in the country to win the All-America City Award five times.

From world-renowned museums, concert halls, and theaters, to specialty shops and restaurants, Worcester has something for everyone. In addition to its dynamic downtown, the city boasts 53 parks, a popular EcoTarium, and New England’s largest urban conservation center and wildlife sanctuary, Broad Meadow Brook.
