Biography
Hi there! My name is Peter Sonnega and I am a proud graduate of the University of Michigan (Go Blue!). I graduated in May 2019 with a BS in Ecology, Evolution, and Biodiversity with a minor in Sociology of Health and Medicine. During my time there, I gained invaluable experience in ecological field research in northern Michigan wetlands as well as studying abroad in New Zealand. After graduation, I worked as a wildlife technician for the Virginia Tech Shorebird Program where my interest in stewardship of the environment through protection of wildlife- particularly birds- crystallized. I was drawn to the MCM program because I believe in the efficacy of the One Health paradigm to combat anthropogenic pressures on the environment. I hope to eventually continue this fight as a wildlife veterinarian. In my free time, I enjoy playing sports of all kinds, especially Ultimate Frisbee!
