Large Animal Ophthalmology

Large Animal Ophthalmology

The ophthalmology service offered at the Hospital for Large Animals at Cummings Veterinary Medical Center at Tufts treats patients in both emergency situations and as part of long-term follow-up of chronic conditions. Animals can be seen as outpatients or hospitalized to receive around-the-clock treatments.

Medical and surgery procedures, overseen by a board-certified veterinary ophthalmologist, are done with the objective of saving sight and reducing pain. Therapies available to Hospital for Large Animals patients include laser therapy for uveal cysts, cyclosporine implants for equine recurrent uveitis, radiation and cryotherapy for different ocular cancers and state-of-the-art ocular ultrasound and ocular surgery.
