COVID-19 Guidance: Guidance and operational updates for Cummings School and its veterinary teaching hospitals

The Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine at Tufts University is seeking two highly motivated veterinary anatomic pathologists to join our group of academic diagnosticians.  We seek applicants who will be successful educators, with the ability and desire to mentor residents and DVM students in the art of necropsy. The successful applicants will exhibit strong diagnostic skills, be able to interpret samples from a variety of species and will enjoy working closely with clinicians. Appointment will be at the rank of Clinical Assistant or Clinical Associate Professor, depending on level of experience.

The pathology service manages a robust caseload consisting primarily of dogs and cats, with smaller numbers of horses, alpacas, small ruminants, exotics, and wildlife. The service processes approximately 2,300 biopsies and 550 necropsies per year.  Our hospitals see a rich diversity of cases, providing ample teaching resources and forming the basis for a wide variety of collaborative research projects.

The successful applicants would be part of a group of four anatomic pathologist with diagnostic responsibilities. All pathology faculty members contribute to diagnostic activities and engage in teaching didactic courses, laboratories, and clinical rotations. Diagnostic activity will be distributed amongst the anatomic pathologists and is expected to require up to a 60% time commitment.

As clinical track faculty appointments, the faculty members will be expected to engage in sufficient scholarly activity to remain at the forefront of their discipline. Cummings is situated in Grafton, Massachusetts on a 600-acre pastoral campus, forty-five minutes west of Boston and next door to Worcester, the second-largest city in Massachusetts, Worcester.
