Tufts Paws for People volunteers shall follow all Pet Partners® Policies and Procedures at all times while representing Tufts Paws for People.
Before taking his/her own registered animal on a visit, new Tufts Paws for People volunteers shall complete the following steps:
Shadow an existing Tufts Paws for People team for at least one visit in order to observe current procedures in action.
Set up visitation at a site that either is an established facility (with a completed facility contact form in place at the Tufts Paws for People office) or will work with program coordinator to ensure the facility is appropriate and has completed required paperwork.
The team (handler and animal) will be mentored on the first three visits by an existing Tufts Paws for People member to ensure visits are conducted in a consistently high quality manner.
Tufts Paws for People volunteers under the age of 16 will be accompanied on all visits by a parent or guardian.
Any volunteer found not following the above policies and procedures will have his/her membership in Tufts Paws for People revoked.
