Gabriella Villaneuva Student Profile

Gabriella Villaneuva

I was born and raised right outside Washington DC, in Bethesda, MD. Although I always wanted to be a veterinarian it wasn’t until I spent a summer working at a wildlife rehabilitation center in Malawi and a wildlife sanctuary in Namibia that I discovered I was most interested in wildlife medicine and international conservation efforts. I earned an Sc.B. in Human Biology at Brown University, which allowed me to gain a foundation in the sciences while further exploring an area of interest within the humanities, which I chose to be anthropology. My senior year I wrote a thesis on the intersection between animal welfare and humanitarian efforts in Malawi, which ultimately introduced me to One Health and led to my interest in public health. I love traveling and languages and at the moment, I would love to work internationally at the community level as a veterinarian.
