Advanced Surgery Elective
Each spring the Cummings School enrolls fourth-year veterinary candidates in a strategic, high-volume spay/neuter service. This service is designed to spay and neuter a large number of animals and to enhance the surgical skills of the students. The Lerner Spay/Neuter Clinic accepts shelter dogs and cats from shelter or rescue organizations with 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status. To qualify and animal must:
- have no serious underlying disease,
- be free of heart murmurs,
- be between three months and ten years of age.
