Academic-Track or Clinical-Track Faculty Position in Neurology/Neurosurgery

The Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine at Tufts University invites applications for a faculty position in veterinary neurology/neurosurgery. Applicants are invited to apply for an academic-track or clinical-track faculty position. Requirements include a DVM or equivalent degree and completion of a formal residency in neurology. Preference will be given to individuals who are ACVIM (Neurology) or ECVN board-certified. Residents completing their programs in July 2015 are encouraged to apply. Rank and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Anticipated percentage time allocations for the academic-track position are 50% clinical service and 50% academic time. Expectations for the academic-track position include didactic teaching in the preclinical curriculum and development of a research program in neurology or neurosurgery that attracts external funding. Time allocations for a clinical-track position are 75% clinical service and 25% academic time, with expectations for clinical research and teaching. Clinical service includes emergency back up for residents on nights and weekends as part of a faculty rotation. A flexible workweek that includes weekend hours will also be considered (negotiable). Competency in neurosurgery is a requirement for the position. Residency training is an important component of this position and three residents are currently enrolled in the program.

The neurology service is supported by outstanding radiology, critical care (24 hours), oncology, medicine, cardiology, ophthalmology, anesthesia and orthopedic surgery services. Available state-of-the-art equipment includes a linear accelerator, helical CT, MRI, Codman ICP express and electrodiagnostic equipment.
