Assistant/Associate/Full Professors in Anatomic Pathology
The Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine at Tufts University seeks two motivated, board certified veterinary anatomic pathologists. The first position, offered at the Associate or Full Professor level, requires research experience and an ability and motivation to lead the Section of Pathology, Department of Biomedical Sciences. The second position is offered at an Assistant Professor level. Both positions are available July 1, 2012.
Responsibilities
The first position is a leadership position. The successful applicant is expected to work with the Cummings School administration regarding pathology strategic planning and implementation. He or she will also be responsible for programmatic development of the veterinary pathology residency and pathology track for PhD graduate level education. The ability to establish collaborative or independent research is required. Participation in necropsy and biopsy service, teaching veterinary students and residents, and mentoring junior faculty is also required, but the level of commitment to teaching and service is negotiable. Successful applicants must possess effective communication skills and be able to work with diverse groups of stakeholders.
The second position is a service and teaching intensive position. This individual will teach in the DVM professional and residency programs, and provide diagnostic services for the Foster Hospital for Small Animals, the Large Animal Hospital and the Wildlife Clinic. The ability to establish collaborative research is encouraged but not necessary. Successful applicants must possess effective communication skills and be able to work with diverse groups of stakeholders.
Qualifications
Candidates must possess a DVM or related degree and be certified by the American College of Veterinary Pathology or European College of Veterinary Pathology in veterinary anatomic pathology. Experience in diagnostic biopsy and necropsy service is necessary. Preferred qualifications include a PhD or equivalent degree, productive scholarly activity in the fields of oncology or infectious diseases, experience in teaching at the undergraduate, professional or graduate levels, and a demonstrated ability to work in a team.

The Section of Pathology is an important part of the Department of Biomedical Sciences. Scholarly breadth across faculty members is excellent with emphasis in comparative oncology and infectious disease. The departmental teaching mission is served through both professional and graduate degree course offerings. Diagnostic services in clinical and anatomic pathology are provided by the department to the Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital.
