Ophthalmology

The equine ophthalmology service at the Hospital for Large Animals treats patients in both emergency situations and as part of long-term follow-up of chronic conditions. Animals can be seen as outpatients or hospitalized to receive around-the-clock medications.

Medical and surgery procedures, overseen by a board-certified veterinary ophthalmologist, are done with the objective of saving sight and reducing pain. Therapies available to our patients include laser therapy for uveal cysts, cyclosporine implants for equine recurrent uveitis, radiation and cryotherapy for different ocular cancers and state-of-the-art ocular ultrasound and ocular surgery. Other large animal species can be seen by this service as well.

Please contact the Hospital for Large Animals to make an appointment.
