Amy Sato – DVM, DACVR
As a veterinary radiologist, Dr. Amy Sato specializes in diagnosing animals using computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), ultrasound, nuclear medicine and radiography (X-rays). She is board-certified by the American College of Veterinary Radiology.
Dr. Sato grew up in Southern California and Upstate New York. A childhood love of the works of James Herriot and a devotion to a dog with a seizure disorder fueled Dr. Sato's desire to become a veterinarian. Following her veterinary studies at the University of California at Davis, she undertook an internship at the University of Prince Edward Island, Canada. After completing her radiology residency at the Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine she stayed on as a faculty member. She serves as the course director of the school's Introduction to Diagnostic Imaging
course for second-year students and also lectures in the Respiratory Pathophysiology
course. I like to take complicated topics and make them appear simple so that students can learn instead of being intimidated,
she says. Watching them experience the
aha! moment
is always gratifying.
Dr. Sato lives with her husband, and two young daughters in nearby Shrewsbury, MA. Their family also includes two cats. In her spare moments, she enjoys cooking, ballroom dancing and studying Japanese.
Dr. Sato's academic and research interests can be found on her faculty profile.
