Giving to Financial Aid and Scholarships

Tufts financial aid initiative matches gifts and closes affordability gap

Veterinary Students

As part of a university-wide drive to increase financial aid for deserving students, the Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine is offering to match any newly established endowed scholarship, or gift additions to existing endowed scholarship funds, with donations of $100,000 or more.

To be eligible for the match, gifts and pledges are sought by June 30, 2014.

During this initiative, the match program thereby doubles the impact of the scholarship fund the donor has gifted. The larger, university-wide objective is to raise $25 million over two years in endowed scholarships for Tufts students. Even after the university’s most ambitious fundraising campaign ever, demand for financial aid remains pressing. In a time of economic recession, more families are requiring more financial aid.

Scholarship dollars are critical to closing the affordability gap. Aid can make all the difference in enabling a student to take advantage of the opportunity of a Tufts veterinary education. Scholarships open a world of opportunity.

Financial Aid Giving Opportunities

Nearly 90% of our veterinary students need financial aid every year. Donors may support student financial aid with a gift of any amount and every dollar helps. Our Veterinary General Scholarship Fund allocates aid to many of our students based on need. Gifts of any level are accepted.

Further information about giving can be found on the Make a Gift Today page.

Endowed Scholarships

We are very grateful to those individuals and organizations who permanently link their support, and often their name, to the school through the establishment of endowed funds. Endowments, carefully managed for growth as well as current income, are the foundation for the long-term stability and success of the school.

Endowed Scholarships help ensure that Cummings Veterinary School enrolls the students who offer the most to the profession—those students with the talent and commitment to be skilled and compassionate veterinarians.

Donors may establish a named Endowed Scholarship Fund with a minimum commitment of $100,000. Please contact the Cummings Development Office if you would like to discuss the opportunity to establish a new endowed scholarship fund.

Annual Scholarships

Annual scholarships may be established with gifts of more modest amounts and may be renewed as donor funding allows. Please contact the Cummings Development Office regarding the establishment of an annual scholarship fund.
