Neuroscience and Reproductive Biology: Endocrinology of Pregnancy and Lactation

This research area focuses upon the normative physiological and neurobiological events of pregnancy and lactation and how alterations in these events may contribute to the normal development of parental care as well as behavioral disorders in the mother, such as postpartum depression and anxiety. Rodent animal models are used primarily to elucidate these processes which are posited to be relevant to other mammalian species, including pets and food animals.
