Choosing the Cummings School

I chose to apply to Tufts for a number of reasons. The most influential reason was its reputation for excellence, especially in the field of wildlife medicine. Working as a veterinary technician over the last year, I was privy to a number of CE seminars. Many of them featured TCSVM alumni as keynote speakers. This meant to me that TCSVM graduates were out there making a name for themselves, the so-called movers and shakers of the profession. I too wanted to be part of that legacy and this helped to crystallize my decision.

Career Goals

It is my goal to become a wildlife veterinarian with a focus on conservation medicine. With my training at Tufts, I hope to return to Trinidad and Tobago and work toward implementing programs there. In the Caribbean region there is such a rich endowment of wildlife that I am certain I can make myself useful.

Looking Forward to First Year

It has been such a long road getting to this point. I cannot help but be excited over the novelty of it all! Being able to find a balance between the rigorous course load and remaining healthy and happy... and warm worries me most!

Are You Ready?

I try to tell myself that I am, but I'm not sure what exactly can prepare me for the roller coaster ride! (If there's a manual out there, someone needs to let me know).

Telling Everyone

It took me as long as it takes a healthy person to dial a long distance number!
