Christina Buchter Student Profile
Choosing the Cummings School
I chose Tufts because I loved the campus, the people, and the sense of community that I felt when I visited. Coming to Tufts has allowed me to attend a great school while at the same time being close to home.
A Meaningful Hospital Experience
The most meaningful experience in my short time so far in the hospital has been the combination of seeing the improvement in the animals that I am treating, and speaking with owners who are grateful for the care you are providing for their pets.
Career Goals
I would like to complete an internship after I graduate, then go into private practice as a small animal general practitioner. I am also interested in rescue and shelter work.
Education
- Bachelor of Arts in Biology, Dartmouth College, Hanover, NH (2003)
Special Interests
I am interested in small animal medicine and surgery, as well as in exotics.
Student Organizations
Prior to starting my hospital rotations, I was the President of the Student Chapter of the American Veterinary Medical Association (SCAVMA). I was also a committee chairperson for two years for Alpha Psi, the social veterinary fraternity, and was an officer for the Shelter Club. I am currently still a member of these clubs.
Additional Skills and Interests
I love horseback riding and would love to spend all my free time doing that if I could!
