Assistant or Associate Professor or Clinical Professor in Emergency and Critical Care
Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine at Tufts University invites applications for an academic-track or clinical track faculty position in emergency and critical care at the assistant or associate professor level. Anticipated percentage time allocations for this position are 60% clinical service and 40% academic time for the academic track position and 75% clinical service and 25% academic time for the clinical track position. Requirements include a DVM degree or its equivalent and completion of an American College of Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care (ACVECC) residency. Preference will be given to individuals who are ACVECC board certified. Rank and salary will be commensurate with training and experience. Strengths are required in teaching, research, and clinical service.
The selected candidate will join five other faculty members on the Emergency Critical Care Service within the Foster Hospital for Small Animals in North Grafton, MA. Faculty in ECC primarily work daytime hours, including weekend shifts in the ER and ICU, overseeing the clinical and academic services. Some flexibility in scheduling is desired. Ample time exists to take advantage of the collaborative environment for clinical and basic research. Responsibilities of the successful applicant will include instruction of residents and interns in all aspects of emergency and critical care, and primary case management and oversight of patients admitted to the emergency and ICU services. The caseload includes exotic species, and an interest in this area is preferred.
The selected candidate is expected to assist with boards review sessions, journal club, and communications training. Faculty members with research interests are expected to supervise resident research projects and there are many opportunities to develop collaborative research projects with faculty on campus or with researchers in the biomedical community surrounding Boston.
